Campaign Update: Resources Issue

Welcome to a special edition of the Growing Patient Participation Campaign Update. In this issue we are launching two new resources that have been developed to support the work of PPGs.

As always, we welcome your thoughts - so please email us at campaign@growingppgs.com with any feedback or questions on the resources featured in the Update

Communications toolkit for PPGs

We are pleased to announce that a new communications toolkit for PPGs is now available to download from our website. The toolkit has been created as a practical guide to help new and established PPGs engage with the local community, publicise their successes and become an ambassador for other PPGs.

It has been developed in consultation with experts including GPs, Practice Managers, PPG members and PCT representatives, to ensure that it is as useful as possible. Among the range of practical guidance included are:

• Tips on drawing in new members
• Recommendations on publicising your work through local media
• Suggestions on how to use social networking tools online
• Template materials including a press release and website copy
• Ideas on new fundraising techniques

The toolkit is available to download from our website as a PDF, or as an easy-print word document here.

A small number of hard copies are also available for those with limited internet access. To order a copy, send an email with your request to campaign@growingppgs.com.

New PPG Guide for Primary Care Trusts

We have also recently developed a guide for Primary Care Trusts, to advise them on how they can encourage and support the formation of PPGs in their area, as well as the role they can play in making local groups as effective as possible.

The guide – Patient Participation Groups – a natural route to world-class engagement – is available to download from the website here.

Tell us what you think

We are keen to get your feedback on both resources - and in particular to hear how you get on using the advice and materials in the communications toolkit.

Email us at campaign@growingppgs.com to share your thoughts and experiences.
