Growing Patient Participation

NHS Norfolk Primary Care Trust

Creating a PPG community

NHS Norfolk recently set up a PPG Information Exchange Newsletter, with the aim of bringing all PPGs in the area together as part of a single ‘community’. The newsletter features best practice examples, ideas, advice, and gives local PPGs a platform where they can ask for help from each other, or offer insights to other groups.  It is also a way of letting PPGs know about other groups in their area and what sort of activities they run.

Developing a network

Rebecca Champion, Engagement Manager at NHS Norfolk, started the newsletter and is also working to develop a special section of the NHS Norfolk website that is dedicated to PPGs.  She said, “It is early days but I hope that the newsletter and web page will help PPGs to get started and to keep going.  We already have a system where members of established groups will go to groups that are new or who have lost their way a bit, and be a buddy to help them with some new ideas.”
